As Fon du Lac Park District’s oldest shelter, West Park has a lot of history and charm. Located on the west side of Springfield Road, it offers a quiet, laid-back setting that feels like a classic neighborhood park. While some of our newer shelters are larger and busier, West Park is perfect if you’re looking for a more relaxed space to gather with family and friends.

The shelter includes picnic tables, grill, electric service, accessible public restrooms, playground access, and night lighting for evening events. There are also two permanent cornhole sets nearby, so all you need to bring are your bags and a little competitive spirit! Kids can spend time climbing, sliding, and playing on the nearby playground while adults relax under the shelter or enjoy a game of cornhole.

West Park is especially great for smaller gatherings like birthday parties, graduation celebrations, baby showers, and casual cookouts. Parking is a little more limited than some of our other locations, but many people love West Park because of its cozy atmosphere and neighborhood feel.

One of the best things about West Park is the memories connected to it. For generations, families have spent summer afternoons here grilling food, watching kids play on the playground, and simply enjoying time together outdoors. It’s one of those places that feels familiar the moment you arrive.

West Park Shelter is available to rent from mid-April through mid-October each year. Whether you’re planning a small celebration or just looking for a peaceful place to spend the afternoon, West Park continues to be a special part of the Fon du Lac Park District community.
