New and Notable at Fondulac District Library

New “Things” to Do This Summer!

What is a “Library of Things?” It’s a collection of non-traditional materials available for check out including games, electronics, and more. Record your own videos or podcast with our ring light kit and Yeti microphone. Keep the kids busy on road trips with Playaway Launchpad tablets and Yoto mini players. Staying home? Host a backyard party with yard games available like croquet, ladder toss, and lawn bowling.

FDL’s Library of Things keeps growing! New and unique items have been added for recreation indoors and out, such as:
  • Birdwatching kit
  • Bluetooth/CD/FM portable boombox
  • Blu-ray players•
  • Discman-style portable CD player
  • Ghost-hunting kit
  • Outdoor movie kit with inflatable giant screen
  • Roku Ultra streaming devices with the library’s Fandango at Home collection of 1,000+ movies

Fun With FDL at Fon du Lac Farm Park

Join the library for farm-tastic family story times, crafts, and fun at Fon du Lac Farm Park on Wednesdays in July from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Families should meet at the Farm Park, located at 305 Neumann Drive in East Peoria. Show your library card before 10 a.m. on Farm Park story time days to get in for $1.50 per person. Call 699-3917, ext. 1291 or 694-2195 to check on cancellations due to inclement weather.

Can’t make it Wednesday mornings? Visit the Story Walk during regular Farm Park hours! June’s book is The Bad Seed by Jory John, featuring one of the Summer Reading mascots, Bad Seed! Follow the path to enjoy an interactive, outdoor reading experience taking you on a step-by-step journey through the story. A new book will be added near the beginning of July!

Summer Reading Is in Full Swing!

Plant a seed and read! Grow ideas and nourish your mind this summer! Stop by the library to pick up a copy of the reading log, download and print it from our website, or use Beanstack to participate online or via app. Earn badges and prizes for reading and for attending library events. Complete your goals by July 31 in order to be eligible for raffles for special prizes, including games, gift cards, packages from local businesses, and more. Happy reading!

Library Closures

The library will be closed Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4. The library is closed on Sundays through September 6.
