East Peoria Voice

New and Notable at Fondulac District Library

Warm Hands, Warm Hearts
Help our community members stay warm this winter. Donate new mittens, gloves, scarves, and hats of all sizes to the library’s Warm Hands, Warm Hearts all through the month of December. All donations will be distributed to East Peoria organizations in early January to help warm hands, heads, and hearts.

Adult & Teen Winter Reading Program
Don’t let the winter blahs get you down! Get comfy with a good book (or two or three) and join the library’s Adult & Teen Winter Reading Challenge, starting January 2 through February 28! The program is open to all patrons age 13 and older. Participants can complete the challenge and be entered into a prize drawing by reading books or magazines, listening to audiobooks, and attending programs.

Beginning January 2, participants may pick up a reading challenge log at the library, download and print a log from fondulaclibrary.org, or register and track progress online through the Beanstack app (available for download on Apple and Android devices). Patrons may complete the challenge more than once during the program for multiple chances to win. Prize winners will be contacted after March 1. Happy reading!

Anytime Activities
Winter break will soon be here for East Peoria students. Even when there’s not a program scheduled, there’s always something fun to do at the library!

Stop by the Youth Services Department to learn more about the library’s current Anytime Activities – crafts, games, scavenger hunts, or projects kids can do whenever they visit the library. Young visitors can also enjoy a Nintendo Switch, as well as pop-up books, a train table, Lego table, puzzles, and an imagination station during your visit.

Teens 14 to 19 have their own space on the second floor to play Nintendo Switch. FDL is home to a huge manga collection available to browse or check out. Anyone 14 or older may access the second-floor public computers for online gaming, videos, music, and more.

Board and card games are available for all ages to borrow for fun play in the library or at home! Come chill at the library and learn more about all of the fun services available to you!
