The Friends of Fondulac District Library Big Book Sale
The Friends of Fondulac District Library will host their annual Big Book Sale Friday, September 19th from 10am to 6pm, and Saturday, September 20th from 9am to 1pm. Find great books and great bargains while supporting the Friends of the Library. Shop reasonably-priced hardback and paperback books, audiobooks, DVDs, puzzles, and more from all genres and for all ages.

This year, FDL’s Big Book Sale is part of The Book Sale Trail, two days of library book sales and fun throughout Tazewell County. Other participating libraries include Creve Coeur Public Library District and Marquette Heights Public Library. Check Facebook and library websites for more information about sale times and related activities at each location.

The Friends also offer a year-round, ongoing book sale, open during all library operating hours on the first floor of the library. Books, music, and movies are available with suggested donations starting at 25¢.

The Friends of Fondulac District Library encourage communication between the library and the community, promote the use of the library to all groups of people in the community, help to enhance programs and services, and protect and encourage sources of library funding. Funds raised by the group, through events like the sales, support library collections, events, and services, including sponsorship of the summer Music in the Park series.

Read for Your Rights at FDL
An annual event, Banned Books Week spotlights the freedom to read and draws attention to the harms of censorship. In 2024, more than 2,400 unique titles were challenged in libraries and schools, nearly ten times the annual average.

This year, Fondulac District Library encourages readers to broaden their horizons with a Freedom to Read Bingo Challenge for teens and adults, September 15 to October 31. Pick up a Bingo card from the Adult Services desk, or complete the challenge through Beanstack on the library’s website, and choose from a variety of reading genres to complete a Bingo. Return your card by October 31 for a completion prize and a drawing entry for even more prizes.
