East Peoria Police Department Celebrates Topping Out Ceremony For New Station
The EPPD celebrated the Topping Out ceremony at the new station on Tuesday, July 15 at the construction site on Camp and Riverside. The ceremony is a tradition of the construction trade where a final steel beam is placed atop a structure to signify the framework is complete. The beam, signed by workers, community members, officers, and city elected officials was adorned with an American Flag, symbolizing our shared values of freedom and community, and an evergreen tree, representing growth, life, and the promise of a bright future. The ceremony was well-attended by the officers of the EPPD and other city employees, along with employees from the construction team. Chief Catton opened the ceremony with a few words before the beam was lifted onto the building and put into place. Everyone is looking forward to the completion of the much-needed building, which should stand as a symbol of pride for the City.
