New and Notable at Fondulac District Library – Community Shred Truck Returns August 23

Fondulac District Library is partnering with AAA Certified Confidential Security Corporation (CSC) again this year to sponsor a Community Shred Event on Saturday, August 23, between 9am and 1pm in the library parking lot. Dispose of old documents, tax forms, statements, checks, and other paper documents. Staples, paper clips, and small binder clips do not need to be removed. Items will be placed in locked bins and then shredded and recycled at the CSC’s facility. Please limit your shredding to five (5) boxes (approximately 15”x12”x10”).

September Is Library Card Sign-Up Month
Celebrate Library Card Sign-up Month with FDL this September! A library card opens the door to a world of knowledge, resources, and community. Whether you’re exploring new interests, sharpening your skills, or just love a good book, your Fondulac District Library card is your key to endless possibilities.

To celebrate, FDL is giving away two brand-new Fire HD tablets!

  • Sign up for a new FDL card or renew an expired FDL card during the month of September, and you’ll be entered into a drawing to win one of the tablets.
  • Already have a card? Each item you check out at FDL in September earns you an entry into a second tablet drawing — the more you borrow, the more chances you have to win!

Don’t miss out — celebrate the power of your library card and join the fun this September at Fondulac District Library!

Free Bus Rides With Your FDL Card
Fondulac District Library participates in the Fine Free, Fare Free program in conjunction with Greater Peoria Mass Transit District (GPMTD). GPMTD will offer free CityLink bus rides for Peoria, Peoria Heights, Pekin, and Fondulac library cardholders in honor of National Library Card Sign-up Month, from September 1 through 30. This partnership encourages more people to sign up for a library card, visit their local libraries, and use public transportation. It also celebrates the fact that FDL does not assess overdue fines for items checked out here! (Patrons are still expected to adhere to loan periods and return items on or before the due date. Learn more at fondulaclibrary.org/finefree.) The CityLink schedule and route information are available at ridecitylink.org

Sunday Hours Resume
