Tazewell County Clerk & Recorder of Deeds Office Authors Special Letter To Mark Occasion

The Tazewell County Clerk & Recorder of Deeds Office issued  the 95,000th Marriage License in the County’s history to Michael Erdmier of Morton & Olivia Bair of Morton.

Since 1827, the Tazewell County Clerk & Recorder of Deeds Office has had the privilege of issuing marriage licenses for individuals seeking to be married within the county. All of these records, dating back to 1827, are amongst the archives safely and securely held within the Vital Stats Division. While the daily maintenance of this vast collection of archival records, including Birth, Death, Military Discharge, Land Holdings, and Marriage Records, goes largely unnoticed by the general public, the accessibility to these records when needed is vital for many life events.

Tazewell County currently averages issuing approximately 500 Marriage licenses each year, with May/June as the busiest time. With that current pace, it will take roughly 10 more years to reach the next historic milestone of the 100,000th Marriage License.

Shown is the letter from Tazewell County Clerk & Recorder of Deeds John C. Ackerman to the lucky couple to mark this historic occasion, as well as their photo.
