New and Notable at Fondulac District Library

Join Our New Book Club After Dark!
Are you looking to add a little spice to your reading list? From romance to magic and more, join Book Club After Dark beginning Thursday, February 27, from 6 to 7pm. Explore BookTok sensations and other reading recommendations for adult readers ages eighteen and up.
The first reading selection is Out on a Limb from viral TikTok author Hannah Bonam-Young. Out on a Limb shares the fictional story of a wildly independent young woman who is not one to be coddled. After meeting a charming stranger at a costume party, the two decide to get to know one another as friends and nothing more while they embark on a challenging journey together. But, as they both should know by now, life rarely goes according to plan. As an added bonus, readers joining the first session of Book Club After Dark have a chance to win a signed copy of the new release Out of the Woods by the featured author Hannah Bonam-Young!
A new book will be available for checkout each month, either at the library’s circulation desk or through one of our digital apps like Boundless, Libby, or hoopla. Book Club After Dark will be held on the fourth Thursday of each month. Please check our online events calendar at fondulaclibrary.org for future dates and reading selections.
Saturday Morning Family Movie Matinees
The library is excited to present Family Movie Matinees one Saturday per month from 9:30 to 11:30am. Snacks will be provided, but attendees also are welcome to bring their own. See new, popular, family-friendly movies without the movie theater price! The next Family Movie Matinee is Saturday, March 1, and features a new release that follows the epic adventure of a kind and intelligent shipwrecked robot who learns to survive her harsh, unknown surroundings with the help of local wildlife – including her adopted baby goose. For exact titles, ratings, and future matinees, visit the library calendar at fondulaclibrary.org, and be sure to mark your calendar for April 26 for a new musical favorite featuring everyone’s favorite “good” and “bad” witches!
Check Out the Seed Library
How does your garden grow? February and March are prime seed-starting time, so why not visit the Seed Library on the second floor! This collection of various seeds can be freely “borrowed” by community members and then planted. If possible, save seeds from your plants at the end of each season and donate them back to the library. (The library also accepts donations of commercially-packaged seeds.) The donation-based Seed Library creates a self-sustaining collection of seeds that are ideal for our local growing conditions, strengthens biodiversity, and increases resource sharing within our community.
How to Use the Seed Library:
- Select seed packets to take home. For 2025, allowed checkouts have been increased from 5 to 10 packets per cardholder, per year.
- Fill out the form letting us know what you took & turn it into the second-floor Information Desk.
- Plant the seeds in your garden & enjoy
How to Donate Seeds:
- Clean, dry, and save seeds from your heirloom variety vegetables, herbs, and flowers.
- Please label your donation or include your name/phone number, the variety of seed, and the year that it was harvested.
- Seeds from vegetables, herbs, flowers, and native plants will be accepted.
