Winners Named in Outdoor Decoration Contest

Ten holiday decorated properties have been designated the winners of the 2024 Christmas Splendor Exterior Decorating Contest, an East Peoria Festival of Lights event sponsored by the East Peoria Beautification Commission.

Contest winners are:

  • Business/Church/School Division – first place, Adult and Teen Challenge Super Thrift Store, 1965 E. Washington St.; second place, Gary Dieters Funeral Home, 444 E. Washington St.
  • Neighborhood – Cotton Lane
  • Folepi Christmas Splendor, for excessive use of outdoor lighting and decorations, the more the merrier – first place, Gail and Amy McGinnis, 127 Royal Vista Drive; second place, Perry Beeney, 308 Independence Drive
  • Festive Inflatables, for five or more inflatables on display – first place, Layla and Drew Davis, 113 Shoshone Drive, Unit A; second place, Gary Fugitt, 401 Timber Lane.
  • Traditional, anything from simple to elegant – tie for first place, Zachary and Nicole Maas, 101 Vonachen Court and Brian Spillman, 115 Shady Lane.
  • Spirit Award, which is judges’ choice – Richard and Deborah Snow, 408 Muller Rd.

The winners were honored at the Dec. 17 East Peoria City Council meeting. Building division winners received East Peoria Festival of Lights ornaments and $25 gift certificates from Eggcellent Café. The Neighborhood Division winners received yard signs.
