Letter From the Mayor, John Kahl

Jan 15, 2025 02:54PM ● By John Kahl

The recent announcement by Cullinan Properties welcoming Boot Barn and Best Buy to the Levee District in East Peoria reinforces East Peoria’s position as a dynamic hub for commerce and community activity. The addition of these two new stores not only brings expanded retail options to the community, it contributes to the vitality of our local economy, further enhancing the quality of life for our residents. We are grateful to Cullinan Properties for their continued investment in our city, to Best Buy for reaffirming their commitment to the Metro Peoria area, and to Boot Barn for their commitment to invest in the Metro Peoria area.

A strong and diverse local economy is crucial to the success of our community. The more we encourage economic growth, the more our community will benefit as a whole. When our local economy thrives, it results in more employment opportunities, increased tax revenue that provides the city more funding to upgrade its roads, infrastructure, and facilities, improve public safety, and maintain its property tax rates, and without question, the attraction of new residents and businesses. The stronger and more diverse we grow our local economy, the better opportunity we have to improve the quality of life for all residents.

East Peoria would not be the dynamic hub for commerce that it is today without the visionary leadership of all those who paved the way, the investments made by all members of our business community and the support given to them by our residents and visitors. We must never take for granted the thriving and diverse business community that East Peoria has today and must all do our part to ensure of their continued success.

Always grateful,
John
