Address numbers on a house are important to help family members and friends find a residence, and they could also save a life.

The East Peoria Code Enforcement division is issuing fliers as a friendly reminder to homeowners with missing house numbers. City code requires homes to have four-inch high numbers visible from the street.

House numbers are used by East Peoria’s Police and Fire departments to quickly locate a residence in an emergency situation. Valuable time can be lost when a residence has no visible number. 

House numbers are inexpensive and readily available at any home center or hardware store.
