Lights and Inflatables Encouraged for Christmas Splendor Contest

Untangle the lights, blow up the holiday inflatables, and enter the 2024 Christmas Splendor Exterior Decorating Contest. The East Peoria Beautification Commission’s annual contest is part of the East Peoria Festival of Lights. Categories are:
- Business/Church/School
- Neighborhood
- Home Divisions:
- Folepi Christmas Splendor – excessive use of outdoor lighting and decorations, the more the merrier.
- Festive Inflatables – five or more inflatables on display.
- Traditional – anything from simple to elegant.
In addition, one house will receive the Spirit Award, which is the judges’ choice.
Online entries will be accepted Nov. 22–Dec. 6, and the contest is open to those whose property is in the East Peoria corporate city limit including those in the Sunnyland area of East Peoria. Judging will start on Dec. 10 and conclude by Dec. 11 and all entrants must have the outdoor holiday lights on between 5:30 and 9pm those nights. Contest displays must be visible from curbside. Those utilizing professional lighting services as well as 2023 Christmas Splendor contest winners are not eligible.
Awards will be presented at the Dec. 17 East Peoria City Council meeting. The first and second place winners of each building category and the winner of the Spirit award will receive Festival of Lights ornaments. The Neighborhood Division winner will receive a yard sign. Photos of the winning displays will be posted to the City of East Peoria’s website and social media sites.
